Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has attended an indoor garden party at the Convention Centre in Dublin.

This evening's event was hosted by British Ambassador Julian King.

Some 2,000 guests have joined the Queen as she welcomes President Mary McAleese for an evening of fashion, music and theatre.

A fashion show featuring Irish and British designers will precede a concert from the Chieftains,Westlife, Mary Byrne and a host of other performers, including 1996 Eurovision Song Contest winner Eimear Quinn.

Earlier, the Queen visited the National Stud in Co Kildare.

There she met students of the Racing Academy and some of the people who trained winners from this year's Cheltenham Festival.

The Queen was also given an inspection of some of the leading stallions at Stud.

The Duke of Edinburgh attended a reception with members of Gaisce, The President's Award, at Farmleigh House in Dublin.

Prince Philip met leading figures behind Gaisce, as well as award recipients and current participants of the programme.

Disruption to traffic will continue and Dublin Bus has advised there will be interruptions to some of its services.

Both sides of the quays in Dublin will be closed from after 5pm. There will also be disruption on the N7.
